--- Green Envy-green ---
If you were curious about the color of our next electric streamliner, here is the answer: Green!
The "Green Envy" will have most of the body work made from aluminum, just like the KillaJoule.
This pre-painted "sign stock" aluminum from ALRECO in Henderson, Colorado, is white on one side and green on the other. The finish is great and very rugged, and the green side comes with protective plastics. You build you vehicle, and when you peel of the plastics you have a perfect paint job! (The green color is more vivid in reality and it is in the photos. It will look great on the salt! :-) )

--- First solo flight! ---
It has been a long road, but I finally did it - I made my first solo flight today! :-) It was uneventful and consisted of two takeoffs and two landings in a Cessna 150-150 at Boulder Municipal Airport. They weren't the prettiest landings I have done, but they were safe and the airplane is still flyable. The wind was calm and the weather was beautiful. The whole thing was over in less than 30 minutes, and I was completely exhausted!
For someone that is not into aviation, the first solo it may not sound like a big deal. What's so different with the solo, you may ask. You are just doing the same thing that you have done with your flight instructor many, many times before. In my case, I have done over 100 takeoffs and landings.
Well, the difference is that you find yourself 1000 ft (300 m) above a tiny little strip of pavement, going 100 mph, and it starts to sink in that _you_ are the only person that can get this flying aluminum tube back on the ground... If something goes wrong, there is no one to help you. You are literally holding your life in your own hands, and you can't just pull over to the side of the road and stop. You have to land this thing, no matter what. Quite scary, and completely amazing! :-) Thank you to my flight instructors Will Mathews, Cameron DuPre and Ben Pinnell for not giving up on me! This is the hardest thing I have ever attempted....
P.S. It is a tradition to wear a colorful shirt at your first solo. When you come back to the ground, your flight instructor cuts a piece out of the back, signs it, and hangs it on the wall at the flight school. It symbolizes that they couldn't keep you on the ground; that they hung onto your shirt but you pulled away and tore it. I think it is a very nice tradition. If you want to, you also get your own signed piece to keep. ... See more
It is a genuine honor for to have such a welcoming home for the KillaCycle in the Forney Museum. Very prominent placement in their motorcycle section, and also nice photos on their FB page. :-)
New exhibit is now on display: Killacycle! The worlds quickest electric motorcycle. This electric drag motorcycle is the quickest of any electric vehicle in the quarter mile. 0 to 60 in under a second and has over 500 horse power! --- Full house at William Penn university! ---
I had the honor to be invited to speak at William Penn University's "Leadership series" today. Although it is a small university in small town Oskaloosa, Iowa, the crowd was larger than expected and they had double the number of chairs. Not bad considering that homecoming parade was at the same time! The only person that had drawn a larger crowd was Bernie Sanders. ;-) There were also tons of great questions.
Even if most students at William Penn are athletes, they seem to enjoy a story about technology and they certainly can relate to my competitive mindset. I also think the university will be forced to buy a few more 3D printers, the students really seemed to like my 3D printed KillaJoule scale models and my 3D printed handbag. :-)
